About the job

CoreWeave is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to own the frontend architecture of the W&B app, which is used daily by ML researchers and engineers. The role focuses on ensuring app performance, stability, and reliability by addressing challenges in data composition and load times. This is a frontend-led position requiring deep architectural understanding and cross-organizational collaboration. You will be responsible for defining architectural boundaries, shaping designs across teams, and executing plans to improve the user experience and product features.

Responsibilities

  • Own the frontend architecture of the W&B app, ensuring performance, stability, and reliability.
  • Define architectural boundaries for data composition to improve load times and user experience.
  • Shape designs of other teams and build consensus across organizational boundaries.
  • Set performance targets and drive work to meet them, validated by production data.
  • Decide the app's delivery and rendering architecture, optimizing code delivery.
  • Partner with backend and platform teams on API design, including offloading work from the client.
  • Propose and drive large-scale overhauls beyond incremental improvements.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience building user-facing software with deep expertise in frontend architecture and performance.
  • Proven experience leading the transformation of a large, long-lived React application with a focus on performance, product impact, and developer experience.
  • Strong command of React and TypeScript.
  • Production experience with GraphQL and modern state management (e.g., Redux, Zustand).
  • Skilled in performance engineering: instrumenting applications, analyzing traces, and quantifying improvements.
  • Solid understanding of client-side caching fundamentals (normalization, invalidation, failure modes at scale).
  • Hands-on experience with bundlers and build tooling, with clear views on code splitting and delivery tradeoffs.
  • Sufficient backend knowledge to design systems at a high level and propose API architectures for client performance.
  • Track record of validating ideas, coordinating across engineering teams, and sequencing work across organizational boundaries.
  • An operator mindset: measuring, shipping, following through, and staying close to production.

Benefits

  • Discretionary bonus
  • Equity awards
  • Comprehensive benefits program
