Convex is seeking a talented Software Engineer to architect and build its platform for agentic development and applications. This role offers significant autonomy, allowing you to influence product direction and infrastructure. You will work on a small, high-leverage team, collaborating closely with leadership to enhance the developer experience and drive innovation at the frontier of AI application development. Responsibilities
- Work across APIs, plugins, and AI framework integrations to improve the Convex platform for building agentic apps and agents.
- Engage with developers to understand their usage of Convex, identify gaps, and implement solutions.
- Prioritize and own projects independently, in collaboration with AI Ergonomics, engineering, and the CTO.
- Strengthen Convex's position as a leading platform for agentic development through demos, examples, and customer engagement.
- Write high-quality code at the forefront of AI application development.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience shipping and owning developer-facing products, APIs, or tooling.
- Proven track record of operating independently.
- Strong instincts for creating intuitive developer tools.
- Genuine curiosity about the impact of AI on software development.
- Experience or enthusiasm for scaling in a high-growth startup environment.
- Ability to write high-quality code (TypeScript experience is a plus).
- Enthusiasm for understanding and contributing to complex systems across the stack.
- Conceptual thought and architectural sensibilities.
- Ability to think deeply about problem-solving and long-term implications.
- Value simplicity and pragmatism in system design.
