Concourse is seeking a software engineer to build and scale the core infrastructure powering their AI agents. This role involves working across APIs, data models, integrations, and backend systems to handle high-volume queries and critical finance workflows. The mission is to create reliable, scalable backend systems that enable AI agents to deliver fast, accurate, and trustworthy results for enterprise customers. The engineer will develop new features, expand integrations, optimize performance, and contribute to the architecture supporting hundreds of thousands of AI-driven queries monthly. This is a high-impact position for someone passionate about building backend systems, solving complex data and integration challenges, and growing rapidly within a fast-moving startup.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend features, APIs, and business logic for AI agents and user-facing applications.
- Build integrations with ERPs, banks, CRMs, HRIS, payroll, billing systems, and other finance data sources.
- Develop and maintain ETL processes for reliable data flow from external systems.
- Optimize backend systems for high-volume AI queries, ensuring strong performance and reliability.
- Take ownership of significant backend components with autonomy.
Requirements
- 2+ years of backend engineering experience delivering production systems.
- Strong experience building REST APIs, working with databases, and developing backend services (TypeScript/Node.js preferred).
- Comfortable building integrations, reading API documentation, and connecting disparate systems.
- Strong understanding of data modeling, schema design, and data movement across siloed systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, including debugging and creative technical thinking.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and operate with high ownership.
- Experience with financial systems (ERPs, billing, payroll) or fintech products is preferred.
- Experience with data warehouses (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery) and ETL tools (Fivetran, Airbyte) is a plus.
