Anthropic is seeking a Commercial Counsel, SPARC (Safety, Policy, and Research Contracts) to join its legal team. This role will be instrumental in shaping how advanced AI technology is delivered to users, researchers, and enterprises globally. You will collaborate with experienced colleagues as strategic partners, focusing on cutting-edge AI safety and research agreements, including threat-sharing frameworks and collaborations that advance responsible AI development standards. Additionally, you will support Go-to-Market teams by handling enterprise agreements and customer negotiations. This is a prime opportunity for a driven attorney to gain deep expertise in commercial transactions while directly contributing to the development of responsible AI.
Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, with a focus on AI safety and research, as well as Go-to-Market/Sales transactions and enterprise customer contracts.
- Collaborate closely with Sales and Go-to-Market teams to accelerate deal velocity and provide practical legal guidance.
- Assist in building and maintaining commercial legal infrastructure, including contract templates, playbooks, and process improvements.
- Partner with Policy, Safeguards, and Research teams on novel AI governance initiatives.
- Identify and escalate legal risks while supporting business objectives.
- Stay informed about legal developments relevant to AI technologies.
Requirements
- J.D. and active membership in at least one U.S. state bar (California preferred).
- Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements.
- Demonstrated ability to provide clear, practical legal guidance to non-lawyers on complex commercial law matters.
Benefits
- Annual compensation range: $265,000 - $335,000 USD
