Cohere is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the North Security team and build AI agents that revolutionize enterprise security. This role focuses on creating autonomous systems to handle critical security tasks for practitioners. You will develop intelligent systems that empower security teams, automate repetitive tasks, and ensure AI agents can safely interact with sensitive enterprise data. The position involves creating the necessary security infrastructure, shipping production-ready agent capabilities, and researching novel security patterns for AI agent systems.
Responsibilities
- Build autonomous security agents for alert triage, secure code reviews, threat modeling, and vulnerability assessment.
- Develop agent orchestration systems to automate security tasks for practitioners.
- Design and implement agent security controls for safe interaction with sensitive enterprise data.
- Create security infrastructure for agents operating in high-trust environments with stringent deployment requirements.
- Ship production-ready agent capabilities that run efficiently in resource-constrained environments.
- Research and implement novel security patterns for AI agent systems, including custom solutions.
- Conduct security testing of agents and the platform they run on.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of shipping user-facing security features.
- Strong Python development skills with significant production experience.
- Experience building or working with autonomous systems, AI agents, or intelligent automation.
- Solid understanding of security principles (session management, authentication, authorization, secure coding).
- Ability to think about security at multiple layers: application, agent behavior, and infrastructure.
- Comfortable working across the full stack and debugging unfamiliar codebases.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments with evolving priorities.
- Excitement about the intersection of AI/ML and security engineering.
