Cohere is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Agents & Automations team, which builds the core platform for North, Cohere's AI workspace. This platform enables customers to create AI-powered workflows, ranging from structured automations to flexible agents that can interact with enterprise systems. The role involves building the workflow builder, execution engine, integrations, debugging tools, and feedback loops that empower users to deploy and manage AI agents and automations. This is a broad product engineering role that spans frontend, backend, and AI-powered systems, with the goal of shipping reliable software that helps customers augment or automate business workflows.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, ship, and maintain core capabilities for the Agents & Automations platform.
- Develop product and platform features for creating, running, debugging, evaluating, and improving agents and automations.
- Own features end-to-end, from technical design through implementation, testing, launch, and iteration.
- Work across the full stack, including frontend product surfaces and backend systems.
- Make practical technical decisions balancing speed, quality, depth, and user impact.
- Collaborate with product, design, modeling, customer-facing teams, and other engineers.
- Actively use AI in work while ensuring quality and reliability of shipped systems.
Requirements
- Experience building, shipping, and operating production software used by real users or customers.
- Comfort working across backend, frontend, product, data, and infrastructure boundaries.
- Strong product judgment and attention to user experience details.
- High agency: ability to act, tinker, learn quickly, and drive change proactively.
- Ability to move quickly while maintaining a high bar for correctness, maintainability, and user impact.
- Clear communication skills in a distributed, asynchronous team environment.
- Ability to document important decisions and collaborate effectively across functions.
- Ability to advocate for a point of view, adapt to new evidence, and commit to decisions.
- Excitement to use AI to do best work while remaining accountable for built systems.
