About the job
The CNI team builds and operates systems that enable Cloudflare's enterprise customers to connect their networks directly to Cloudflare via private, dedicated interconnects. This product, Cloudflare Network Interconnect (CNI), supports various interconnect types across hundreds of global locations and is foundational to key services like Magic Transit, Cloudflare WAN, Zero Trust, and application security for major clients. As a member of this team, you will develop and enhance the systems responsible for provisioning, monitoring, and orchestrating these private network interconnects at scale. You will collaborate with Product Management, Network Engineering, and Infrastructure teams on significant initiatives to integrate enterprise customers directly into Cloudflare's global network.
Responsibilities
- Design, document, code, and test systems for provisioning, monitoring, and orchestrating private network interconnects.
- Collaborate with Product Management, Network Engineering, and Infrastructure teams on enterprise connectivity initiatives.
- Participate in all stages of the software development lifecycle.
- Manage and monitor production software deployments.
- Work with technologies including Rust, Go, PostgreSQL, Prometheus, Kubernetes, Linux networking, network operating systems, and BGP routing.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for system health and operational duties under a 'Run What You Build' model.
- Integrate AI tools and systems into the workflow.
Requirements
- Systems-level programming experience in Rust, Go, C, or C++.
- Understanding of IP networking fundamentals: BGP, Layer 3 routing, and interconnect technologies (cross-connects, VLANs, overlay tunnels).
- Experience building, deploying, and debugging distributed systems.
- Experience participating in an on-call rotation for services with direct customer impact.
- Willingness to adopt and integrate AI tools and systems into your workflow.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
