Cloudflare is seeking a Manager, Customer Engineering to lead a team of Customer Engineers responsible for the entire customer technical journey, from initial discovery to long-term adoption and expansion. This role sits within the Go-To-Market organization and reports to a Customer Engineering Senior Leader. You will be responsible for building, coaching, and enabling a high-performing team of quota-carrying technologists, ensuring they leverage AI-augmented workflows to minimize administrative tasks and focus on high-value architectural design, technical validation, and delivering measurable business outcomes. This is a player-coach role where you will manage daily operations, forecast weekly, and continuously hire, while staying closely connected to the technical, commercial, and operational aspects of customer engineering.
Responsibilities
- Recruit, onboard, coach, and retain a diverse team of Customer Engineers.
- Set clear expectations, conduct regular 1:1s and performance reviews, and foster a strong feedback culture.
- Manage the team's opportunity pipeline and forecast new business and expansion outcomes weekly.
- Ensure the team achieves new business acquisition, expansion, adoption, and consumption targets.
- Partner with Sales, Customer Experience, Professional Services, and regional leadership on account planning and execution.
- Accompany Customer Engineers on critical customer calls, QBRs, discovery sessions, and PoC reviews.
- Provide coaching on architecture, commercial positioning, and executive communication.
- Ensure the team operates efficiently within established GTM processes.
- Use dashboards and operational reviews to identify trends, resolve friction, and drive consistency.
- Champion the adoption of AI agents, LLMs, and automation tools to reduce toil and improve response quality.
Requirements
- Experience leading and developing a team of Customer Engineers.
- Proven ability to manage pipelines and forecast accurately.
- Strong commercial acumen and accountability for achieving targets.
- Experience in technical strategy and deal coaching.
- Familiarity with Go-To-Market processes, including forecasting and account planning.
- Ability to step into the field and lead by example.
- Deep understanding of technical, commercial, and operational realities of customer engineering.
