Cloudflare is seeking a Response Engineer for its Managed Defense Center (CMDC). In this role, you will be the primary technical responder for Cloudflare's premium enterprise customers, investigating complex threat telemetry and handling live incident response for sophisticated DDoS and application-layer attacks. You will analyze traffic anomalies during high-pressure events and provide mitigation suggestions or implement them directly on behalf of customers. This position requires an analytical security practitioner who excels in an always-on operational environment, bridging deep technical analysis with premium customer advisory.
Responsibilities
- Implement mitigation strategies for complex attacks across OSI Layers 3, 4, and 7 using Cloudflare's security suite.
- Monitor and investigate proactive alerts, performing real-time packet and traffic flow analysis.
- Detect protocol exhaustion and application-layer exploitation, translating findings into custom mitigation rules.
- Review alerts to determine relevancy and urgency, and escalate customer-impacting incidents.
- Adhere to Customer SLAs for alert response and customer communication.
- Serve as the primary technical contact for customers during active security incidents.
- Provide high-touch, consultative communication with customers via phone, chat, and email.
Requirements
- Analytical security practitioner with experience in an operational environment.
- Ability to bridge deep technical analysis and customer advisory.
- Experience with Cloudflare's security portfolio, including Web Application Security (WAF and Bot Management) and DDoS mitigation.
- Familiarity with customer-facing dashboards and internal tools for mitigation suggestions and implementation.
- Experience with proactive monitoring and analysis of security events through internal alerting systems.
