Cloudflare is seeking a Rack Integration Operations Engineer to act as a technical quality gatekeeper and operational partner for hardware build programs. This role involves bridging the gap between engineering specifications and external contract manufacturing partners, ensuring Bill of Materials (BOM) accuracy, optimizing materials planning, and tracking partner performance. The engineer will also be responsible for modernizing internal operations by building light, AI-enabled automations to streamline repetitive workflows. This is an opportunity to contribute to the scaling of Cloudflare's global network and ensure high availability, security, and performance.
Responsibilities
- Review and validate complex BOMs to identify part substitutions, spec mismatches, and potential build blockers.
- Partner with hardware design engineers to resolve design change requests and BOM discrepancies.
- Evaluate build compliance against Cloudflare specifications using expertise in rack-level power, networking, server, and firmware.
- Contribute to demand forecasting and materials planning for rack build programs.
- Oversee inbound and outbound logistics for components and finished racks.
- Serve as an operational point of contact for external hardware integration partners.
- Contribute to vendor scorecards and KPI tracking, and lead root-cause analyses for defects.
- Track hardware build cycles in Jira, manage documentation, and conduct status check-ins.
- Identify and automate manual, repetitive tasks using AI tools and LLM prompt engineering.
- Analyze performance data using AI-assisted tools to surface operational insights.
- Develop, document, and maintain automation scripts and workflows for team adoption.
Requirements
- Professional background managing hardware vendor or contract manufacturing relationships, including BOM validation, quality tracking, and schedule management.
- Practical ability to evaluate rack-level technical specifications (power distribution, networking, server hardware, firmware) to ensure manufacturing compliance.
- Hands-on experience with program management discipline.
