This role focuses on the build-out and expansion of our global network, working closely with various teams and vendors to plan and execute network expansion. You will be responsible for developing and implementing consistent processes and tools for effective infrastructure management. This is a highly visible position requiring deep technical understanding of datacenter infrastructure, network configuration, system administration, server provisioning, troubleshooting, data analysis, and project management.
Responsibilities
- Provision, monitor, and maintain hardware, software, and networks in new data centers.
- Perform remote server administration using IPMI/BMC tools for provisioning, monitoring, troubleshooting, and firmware updates.
- Configure network devices for greenfield deployments and brownfield migrations.
- Manage remote contractors for datacenter installations and upgrades, coordinating with various partners.
- Build automation using Python scripts and Changie to eliminate repetitive work and develop agentic AI tools.
- Plan and implement network and server installations, including power, cooling, security, rack layout, and cable management.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to remote contractors and junior team members during deployment activities.
- Create and maintain documentation, plans, SOPs, MOPs, and runbooks.
- Collaborate with internal teams on daily operations and project planning.
- Coordinate global cross-connect installations for physical network expansion.
- Assist in defining, documenting, and implementing consistent processes and standardization across regions.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience in Data Center Operations, Site Reliability Engineering, Linux Systems Administration, Network Engineering, and/or DevOps.
- Familiarity with day-to-day tasks and projects common in Data Center Operations.
- Experience with optical transport technologies such as CWDM/DWDM.
- Experience with configuration management tools like Saltstack, Chef, Puppet, or Ansible.
- Knowledge and exposure to Network Protocols, Topologies, and Enterprise architecture.
- Experience writing network configuration and design documentation.
- Experience with network and server installation, configuration, and troubleshooting.
- Experience with remote 'lights-out' and out-of-band access to data center resources (IPMI/BMC).
- Experience solving problems through automation, writing Python or Bash scripts for internal tools and workflow improvements.
- Experience running and improving operational processes in a rapidly changing environment.
