Cloudflare is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead engineering efforts for their AI and Internet Data Insights portfolio. This role focuses on building products that enhance content discoverability and transform complex internet signals into valuable customer experiences. The manager will collaborate with Product Management and engineering teams to drive current priorities and shape future product direction. While not expected to write most of the code, the ideal candidate will possess deep technical credibility, enabling them to understand complex systems, challenge architectural decisions, and intervene in technical issues when necessary. Success will be measured by the team's output, engineer development, and the quality of delivered systems and products. This role may involve on-call responsibilities outside standard working hours.
Responsibilities
- Manage, coach, and grow engineers focused on AI-powered search, internet data insights, and customer-facing products.
- Drive execution by setting clear priorities, ensuring predictable delivery, and empowering engineers with context and autonomy.
- Lead the development of search and retrieval capabilities for content discovery by people and AI agents.
- Collaborate with Product Management to understand customer needs, define the roadmap, and translate opportunities into engineering deliverables.
- Identify opportunities to leverage Cloudflare's global network signals for customer insights and product enhancement.
- Explore how Cloudflare's internet activity data can improve content discovery and enable new product experiences.
- Balance immediate product delivery with strategic, long-term planning.
Requirements
- Deep technical credibility to understand systems, challenge architecture, and troubleshoot issues.
- Management experience focused on team output and engineer development, rather than individual technical leadership.
- Ability to partner closely with Product Management.
- Experience in AI, search, retrieval, data insights, and product engineering is beneficial.
