About the job
We are seeking an Engineering Manager to lead the engineering team for our Agentic Discovery portfolio. This role focuses on people management, execution, and ensuring engineering quality for customer-facing products that help businesses manage how AI agents understand, represent, and interact with their digital properties. You will collaborate with Product Management and other engineering teams to define priorities for Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), content ingestion and indexing, agent observation and testing tools, and open tool-execution standards. While not expected to write most of the code, you must possess deep technical credibility to understand complex systems, challenge architectural decisions, and troubleshoot technical issues when necessary. Success will be measured by the team's output, engineer development, and the quality of delivered systems and products.
Responsibilities
- Manage, coach, and grow engineers working on customer-facing Agentic Discovery products, AEO tooling, and agent-web interaction standards.
- Own execution by setting clear priorities, ensuring predictable delivery, and empowering engineers with context and autonomy.
- Lead the development of tools that enable customers to make their content readable, discoverable, and callable for autonomous agents.
- Build tools for customers to test, observe, measure, and control AI agent interactions with their websites.
- Partner with Product Management to understand customer needs, shape the roadmap, and translate opportunities into engineering outcomes.
- Identify opportunities to leverage Cloudflare's network and edge signals for unique products that help businesses reach agentic audiences at scale.
- Balance near-term product delivery with strategic technical investments for future growth.
Requirements
- Deep technical credibility to understand complex distributed systems and web-scale data pipelines.
- Ability to challenge architectural decisions and ask insightful technical questions.
- Experience managing, coaching, and growing engineering teams.
- Proven ability to drive execution, set priorities, and ensure predictable delivery.
- Experience partnering with Product Management to define roadmaps and outcomes.
- Understanding of AI agents, their interaction with digital properties, and related tooling (e.g., AEO, indexing, observation, standards like WebMCP).
