About the job

Cerebras Systems is seeking a senior software engineer to build and scale the platforms and tools used to monitor and manage its growing fleet of AI clusters across multiple data centers. This role involves owning substantial engineering work across backend services, operational tools, and user-facing applications. You will collaborate with various teams, including Cluster Operations, infrastructure, inference, security, and data center teams, to translate operational challenges into reliable, scalable software solutions. The goal is to ensure fleet health, efficient issue response, and continuous compute capacity availability.

Responsibilities

  • Build and operate software for managing large fleets of AI clusters.
  • Provide operators with clear, actionable views of cluster health, capacity, performance, and ongoing issues.
  • Develop services and integrations that consolidate data and workflows from multiple infrastructure systems.
  • Automate repetitive tasks and enhance tools for incident investigation and service restoration.
  • Design reliable systems that scale with fleet growth and withstand component and site failures.
  • Collaborate closely with platform users to understand needs and inform product/engineering decisions.
  • Lead projects from design to production, measure impact, and use operational feedback for improvements.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of industry experience in building and operating production distributed systems or large-scale infrastructure software.
  • Strong Go skills, with experience in Protocol Buffers and SQL.
  • Experience building control planes, fleet management systems, or operational platforms.
  • Experience designing APIs and data models for multiple consumers, considering versioning and compatibility.
  • Experience building asynchronous systems supporting idempotency, concurrency, and reconciliation.
  • A strong testing practice, particularly for software affecting production clusters.
  • Experience with Linux, containers, and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with durable workflow execution, event streaming, or high-cardinality time-series telemetry.
  • Sound judgment regarding reliability, security, and observability, including system behavior during dependency outages.
  • Ability to take ambiguous problems from design through production and iterate based on operational feedback.

Benefits

  • Build a breakthrough AI platform beyond the constraints of the GPU.
  • Publish and open source cutting-edge AI research.
  • Work on one of the fastest AI supercomputers in the world.
  • Job stability with startup vitality.
  • Simple, non-corporate work culture that respects individual beliefs.
