About the job
Cartesia is seeking an Analytics Engineer to establish and manage the company's central data repository. This role involves integrating data from various sources including product, billing, CRM, marketing, and operations to create reliable models and standardized metric definitions. As an early and foundational member of the data team, you will address immediate data correctness issues, enhance the data warehouse and transformation layers, and develop initial trusted dashboards for key departments. The primary objective is to build robust systems, models, and standards that ensure consistent data-driven decision-making across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Manage the entire data flow from source systems to canonical datasets, metrics, and dashboards.
- Identify and resolve data quality issues across pipelines, models, definitions, and reporting.
- Develop and maintain reliable data warehouse models using SQL and dbt or equivalent tools.
- Define and implement clear metric definitions, tests, lineage, freshness monitoring, documentation, and ownership.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, RevOps, Growth, and GTM teams to translate business requirements into sustainable data models.
- Create trusted dashboards for essential company metrics like activation, usage, billing, customer health, and marketing performance.
- Enable self-service access to common data insights while ensuring reuse of canonical logic.
- Audit the current data stack and propose improvements or overhauls for ETL and analytics tooling.
- Educate the company on utilizing the data source of truth and the process for creating new metrics and dashboards.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a similar technical analytics role, preferably in B2B SaaS or developer tools.
- Expert proficiency in SQL and strong fundamentals in warehouse modeling, including dimensional modeling, historization, and identity resolution.
- Production experience with dbt or similar transformation tools, including testing, orchestration, monitoring, lineage, and documentation.
- Proven ability to consolidate fragmented data and conflicting definitions into canonical, reusable models.
- Experience working with product, billing, CRM, and marketing data; self-serve funnel experience is a plus.
- Strong judgment for determining the appropriate layer for data solutions (source system, pipeline, warehouse, semantic layer, dashboard).
- Ability to conduct end-to-end investigations of data discrepancies and implement preventative measures.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills and the ability to clarify ambiguous business concepts.
- A practical, collaborative approach, willing to address urgent issues while building a long-term data foundation.
