About the job

Plaid is building AI-native tooling from the ground up to extend AI capabilities to non-engineers within the company. This role focuses on creating internal systems that empower teams like Ops and Support to automate their workflows using AI, addressing the limitations of tools designed solely for engineers. You will define and build the first durable versions of these AI surfaces, acting as the engineering point of contact embedded with non-engineering teams to translate their operational needs into shipped software. The work you do will fundamentally change how non-engineering teams at Plaid interact with AI.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and operate internal tools and platform capabilities for non-engineering workflows.
  • Translate internal pain points into simple, durable software products.
  • Define platform constraints for security, runtime, storage, and deployment.
  • Build with strong product judgment, balancing flexibility with clear boundaries.
  • Partner with Security, Infrastructure, and stakeholders to ship reliable systems.
  • Own systems end-to-end, including implementation, rollout, support, and improvement.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • Strong experience building and operating production systems.
  • Experience building internal tools, platforms, or workflow software.
  • Strong product judgment and communication skills in ambiguous environments.
  • Hands-on experience with AI-powered development tools, agents, or automation.
  • Comfortable creating the first version of a product surface without a clear industry template.
  • Experience with developer tooling, internal platforms, or infra-adjacent systems (nice to have).
  • Experience with auth, service accounts, constrained runtimes, or internal security boundaries (nice to have).
  • Experience building products for non-engineering users (nice to have).
  • Exposure to agentic workflows, automation, or AI-enabled internal applications (nice to have).
