Baseten is seeking a Solutions Architect to partner with Sales and customers, translating business needs into technical solutions. This role involves running technical discovery, guiding deployments, and proving value for clients. It's ideal for entrepreneurial, customer-facing technical professionals who want to see how companies adopt AI at scale and enjoy working across discovery, solution design, demos, deployment scoping, and hands-on implementations. You will work closely with Sales and Engineering to help build the platform engineers use to ship AI products.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Sales on customer discovery calls.
- Lead demos and technical scoping to align on success criteria, architecture, and deployment approach.
- Own benchmarking and repeatable deployments, handling standard patterns for LLMs, embeddings, image/video generation, and Voice AI.
- Advise on tradeoffs such as GPU selection (H100s vs B200s) and latency vs throughput optimization.
- Drive consistent playbook-style deployments for common models and use cases.
- Become a power user of runtimes like vLLM, SGLang, and TRT-LLM, understanding their configurations and tradeoffs.
- Drive POC and project execution, including scoping, aligning stakeholders on timelines and deliverables, and acting as a project manager.
- Pull in Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE) support for complex technical work.
Requirements
- AI/ML background with the ability to discuss AI/ML topics credibly with technical stakeholders.
- Strong customer-facing communication skills, including running structured discovery and clarifying ambiguous requirements.
- Technical depth to scope solutions without needing to write production code.
- Ability to script and prototype as needed, including comfort with rapid technical workflow development.
