Baseten is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Internal Tooling team. In this role, you will be responsible for the internal operating system that manages Baseten's capacity, balancing supply and demand to unlock revenue. You will own a product end-to-end, working directly with Capacity, Sales, and Engineering teams to define solutions and ship software that streamlines high-stakes workflows. This position is ideal for engineers who enjoy taking full ownership of a product, possess strong product intuition, and are driven to build tools that measurably improve team effectiveness.
Responsibilities
- Own the Capacity product end-to-end, including scoping, design, implementation, and iteration based on stakeholder feedback.
- Translate complex operational requirements from Capacity, Sales, and SRE teams into user-friendly product experiences.
- Develop and maintain full-stack features for the Capacity toolchain, encompassing UI, APIs, and backend services.
- Identify and eliminate workflow bottlenecks and manual processes within the capacity lifecycle through tooling.
- Implement observability and monitoring to proactively surface issues before they become incidents.
- Collaborate with SRE and Infra teams to ensure the Capacity system accurately reflects the operational fleet's reality.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science or a related field.
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, with significant experience owning a product or internal platform end-to-end.
- Strong full-stack proficiency, including experience with NextJS, JavaScript, Postgres/Drizzle, Tailwind, and AWS.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with non-engineering stakeholders to define product requirements and decisions.
- Experience building internal tooling, operational platforms, or developer infrastructure, especially in high-growth or infra-heavy environments.
- High ownership mindset: proactively identify and fix issues.
- Interest in AI/ML infrastructure; familiarity with GPU infrastructure or capacity planning is a plus.
