Atlas is seeking a Founding Applied AI Engineer to help build the next generation of our AI-powered concierge and credit card service. This role involves designing and shipping real-world AI systems that personalize recommendations, automate complex requests, and innovate in the luxury travel and payments space. You will work on user-facing AI products within a small, world-class team, contributing to AI recommendation and booking flows, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, preference engines, and AI orchestration layers.
Responsibilities
- Design and ship real-world AI systems for personalization and automation.
- Build AI recommendation and booking flows for hotels, dining, and flights.
- Develop retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems for dynamic searches.
- Create preference engines that learn from member interactions.
- Implement lightweight AI orchestration layers integrated with various tools.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience developing software in modern environments (Python, Node.js, Go, or similar).
- 3+ years of experience deploying and scaling cloud-based applications (AWS, GCP, or similar).
- Deep experience integrating LLMs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Hugging Face) and building production AI systems.
- Knowledge of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), embeddings, and vector search (Pinecone, FAISS, or similar).
- Solid understanding of database design (Postgres, Redis, vector DBs).
- Strong optimization skills for low-latency, high-availability systems.
- Product instincts and a focus on the end user experience.
- Collaboration skills and ability to work closely with product, design, and operations.
