Responsibilities
- Manage and grow a team of 6 to 8 engineers, focusing on hiring, performance, and career development.
- Set and execute the product roadmap in collaboration with a product partner.
- Ensure financial correctness across the platform, implementing systems to detect and prevent silent errors.
- Lead multi-quarter migrations of ledger and reporting systems incrementally, ensuring parity and avoiding disruption to customer operations.
- Manage customer relationships at the executive level, translating financial definitions into software requirements.
- Coordinate cross-team execution with payments, data infrastructure, and operations teams to ensure data integrity.
- Ship LLM features to production for an AI report builder.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience managing software engineers, including senior and staff-level individuals.
- Proven experience shipping financial, reporting, or data-intensive systems where numerical accuracy is critical.
- Strong backend and data engineering proficiency, including query plan review, ledger design, and debugging.
- Experience setting product direction and defining a 12-month vision for a product surface.
- Comfortable communicating complex financial data and system behavior to executive stakeholders like CFOs.
- Demonstrated operational discipline, including on-call rotations, SLOs, and monitoring for correctness and availability.
- Ability to move quickly with incomplete information and adapt timelines as needed.
- Experience with OLAP stores (StarRocks, ClickHouse, Druid) alongside PostgreSQL.
- Familiarity with double-entry accounting, append-only ledgers, or audit-trail requirements.
- Experience leading a platform re-architecture while maintaining existing system functionality.
