Applied Intuition is seeking a Software Engineer to join their Korea office and build multi-agent autonomy development tools for defense customers. This on-site role focuses on creating capabilities that enable the design, training, and validation of coordinated Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) behavior. The engineer will collaborate with the U.S. product engineering team and directly engage with Korean defense customers to translate their operational needs into product features. The position involves developing core features for autonomy tools, validating these tools with real-world UAV applications, defining the role of simulation in the development cycle, and contributing to system-level design and architecture.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain core features for multi-agent mission planning, coordination, and training workflows.
- Validate autonomy tools by building reference multi-agent UAV autonomy, exercising the full workflow from simulation to real airframes, and translating issues into product requirements.
- Define the use of simulation across the development cycle, including fidelity, tuning, validation, and bridging the gap between simulated and real flight.
- Collaborate with U.S.-based product and engineering teams to deliver shared roadmap features.
- Contribute to system-level design and architecture for scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Conduct technical deep dives with Korean defense customers to understand operational requirements and translate them into product specifications.
- Guide customers on utilizing tools for developing their multi-agent unmanned systems.
- Mentor engineers and share domain knowledge within the Korea team.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional engineering or equivalent research experience in a fast-paced, customer-oriented environment.
- Hands-on experience in either Unmanned aerial systems development (building and flying real UAS, understanding end-to-end development) OR Multi-agent optimization and control (algorithms for coordinating multiple agents, potentially using ML like reinforcement learning).
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++, or similar.
- Experience on complex, multidisciplinary projects in a collaborative team setting.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a dynamic environment.
- Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
- Ability to lead technical discussions with customers, elicit requirements, and explain design trade-offs.
