Applied Intuition is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join their Air Combat Autonomy team. This role will focus on designing, developing, and enhancing simulation solutions for testing and training multi-agent autonomy software. You will be responsible for architecting LVC (Live, Virtual, Constructive) systems, creating simulation scenarios, writing interface code, conducting code reviews, and resolving integration issues. The position involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to translate requirements into technical solutions, mentoring junior engineers, and driving continuous innovation through testing, debugging, documentation, and CI/CD pipeline contributions.
Responsibilities
- Support experimentation, testing, and training of Tactical AI agents via LVC simulation solutions.
- Research and learn new modeling, simulation, and communication tools.
- Work with 3rd party vendors to incorporate proprietary models while respecting IP.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership.
- Write, modify, test, and debug efficient code (C++ 2017+, Python 3.10+) for adapters, translators, and interfaces.
- Design robust LVC integrations meeting performance, scalability, and security requirements.
Requirements
- Master's degree or equivalent experience in modeling & simulation, computer science, or software engineering.
- Experience with simulation interoperability standards (DIS, HLA, DSEEP) and custom methods for LVC federations.
- Knowledge of communication protocols and serialization mechanisms (DDS, ZeroMQ, Kafka, Redis, protobuf).
- Experience configuring, integrating, extending, and using defense M&S tools (AFSIM, NGTS, flight simulators).
- 3+ years of hands-on experience developing performant modern C++ (2017+).
- Experience developing in Docker and containerized environments on Linux.
- Experience using development tools like git, Visual Studio Code, GitLab, SonarQube, and Artifactory or Azure Container registry.
- Willingness to travel for company business (~25%).
- Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Must hold or be eligible for a U.S. Secret security clearance.
