About the job

Applied Intuition is seeking a Perception Autonomy Engineer to develop, integrate, and maintain real-time sensor software solutions for autonomous vehicles across various domains. You will work with a team to enhance capabilities and demonstrate solutions in real-world scenarios on diverse hardware platforms. The role involves designing, developing, and integrating AI/ML sensor algorithms to interface with different platforms, ingest mission information, and support autonomy objectives. This includes fusing information from state-of-the-art sensors like EO, IR, acoustics, radar, and RF to create autonomous sensor controllers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, integrate, and adapt AI/ML algorithms for the perception autonomy stack to collect information from platform sensors.
  • Create interfacing software for autonomous sensor control (e.g., EO, IR, acoustics, radar, RF).
  • Collaborate with sensor, tracking, and autonomy teams for seamless deployment in on-site DoD testing.
  • Deploy containerized solutions to embedded Linux devices using computer-in-the-loop testing and profiling.
  • Interact with DoD customers to understand use cases, requirements, and triage needs during field events.
  • Triage technical problems internally and scope future work.
  • Communicate and document ongoing work for internal flexibility and external customer clarity.
  • Drive execution of simulation tooling for post-processing field test analysis.
  • Implement improvement plans based on simulation analysis and customer feedback.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotic Engineering, Computer Science, Optimization, or equivalent, OR 5+ years of relevant experience with sensor algorithms, hardware, and HIL software integration.
  • Experience with multiple sensor modalities (e.g., EO, IR, lidar, radar, sonar, acoustics).
  • Core understanding of sensor physics and control parameters.
  • Experience training and deploying ML algorithms (Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow) onto integrated systems (ONNX, C++ models).
  • Familiarity with tracking basics (e.g., Kalman filters) and optimal sensor fusion.
  • Comfortable working in Linux and Docker.
  • Prior experience with remote software development.
  • Ability to handle and process large datasets.
  • Ability to learn new software and algorithms with little supervision.
  • Willingness to travel 1-2 months for SW/HW integration and/or demonstrations (estimated 10-20%).
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Benefits

  • Base salary
  • Equity (options and/or restricted stock units)
  • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance coverage
  • 401k retirement benefits with employer match
  • Learning and wellness stipends
  • Paid time off
