About the job

Applied Intuition is a rapidly growing company focused on powering the future of physical AI, with a current valuation of $15 billion. We are developing the essential digital infrastructure to bring intelligence to moving machines across various industries, including automotive, defense, trucking, construction, mining, and agriculture. Our solutions are trusted by leading global automakers and the United States military. We are seeking a Product Designer to join our Defense team, which is at the forefront of developing next-generation physical AI solutions for defense applications. This role will focus on creating intuitive user experiences for real-time operator interfaces and enterprise platforms used for building, simulating, and deploying autonomy systems.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end design of Defense products, including research, interaction and visual design, prototyping, and shipped UI.
  • Act as the voice of the operator by conducting primary research, ride-alongs, and exercises with warfighters and partners.
  • Design real-time edge interfaces to reduce cognitive load and shorten the decide-act loop in challenging environments.
  • Design the trust model for agentic autonomy, focusing on approval and escalation patterns for human oversight.
  • Design enterprise tools for building, simulating, validating, and shipping autonomy systems.
  • Extend the Defense design system to support both real-time and enterprise workflows.
  • Transform one-off program deliveries into scalable, repeatable products.
  • Represent design in demos, program reviews, and industry events, and contribute to growing the design practice.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of product design experience across at least two meaningfully different environments.
  • Proven track record of shipping products end-to-end, from research through launch and iteration.
  • Strong research instincts with the ability to learn new domains and translate findings into design direction.
  • A portfolio demonstrating judgment in information density, decision UI, and multi-user workflows.
  • Comfort learning and designing for technically complex systems.
  • Strong collaboration skills with engineers and the ability to partner on tradeoffs.
  • Clear communication skills, including presentations for senior leadership.
  • Proficiency with modern prototyping tools.
  • U.S. citizenship required.
  • Must hold or be eligible for a U.S. security clearance (TS/SCI target).

Benefits

  • Base salary
  • Equity
  • Medical/dental/vision/life/disability insurance
  • 401(k) match
  • Learning/wellness stipends
  • Paid Time Off (PTO)
  • Visa sponsorship for security clearance
