About the job

Applied Intuition is seeking a Perception & Fusion Engineer to join their team in developing, integrating, and maintaining real-time sensor software solutions for autonomous vehicles across various domains. You will design, develop, and integrate sensor fusion algorithms to interface with different platforms and support autonomy team objectives. This role involves developing autonomous sensor controllers to fuse information from state-of-the-art sensor systems like EO, IR, acoustics, radar, and RF.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, integrate, and adapt AI/ML algorithms for the perception autonomy stack.
  • Create interfacing software to autonomously control sensors (e.g., EO, IR, acoustics, radar, RF).
  • Collaborate with sensor, tracking, and autonomy teams for seamless deployment in DoD testing.
  • Deploy containerized solutions to embedded Linux devices using computer-in-the-loop testing.
  • Interact with DoD customers to understand use cases and triage needs during field events.
  • Triage technical problems and scope solutions internally.
  • Communicate and document ongoing work for internal flexibility and customer clarity.
  • Drive simulation tooling for playback of sensors, platforms, and autonomy in post-processing.
  • Implement improvement plans based on simulation analysis and customer feedback.

Requirements

  • MS or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Robotic Engineering, Computer Science, Optimization, or equivalent, OR 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with multiple sensor modalities (e.g., EO, IR, lidar, radar, sonar, acoustics).
  • Core understanding of sensor physics and control parameters.
  • Experience training and deploying ML algorithms (Python, PyTorch, TensorFlow) onto integrated systems (ONNX, C++ models).
  • Experience with state-of-the-art estimation, tracking, and fusion algorithms.
  • Comfortable working in Linux and Docker.
  • Prior experience with remote software development.
  • Ability to handle and process large datasets.
  • Ability to learn new software and algorithms with little supervision.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must hold or be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.

Benefits

  • Base salary
  • Equity (options and/or restricted stock units)
