About the job

This role operates at the intersection of product engineering and customer delivery, focusing on building net-new features, standalone applications, and solving complex technical challenges at the boundary of Applied's platform and customer environments. You will spend the majority of your time coding production-quality software, designing system architectures, and delivering working products, while also feeding field signals back to shape the product roadmap.
Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end delivery, from problem framing and scoping to architecture, implementation, and production rollout.
- Ship production software, including net-new features, standalone applications, and integrations.
- Work side-by-side with customer engineering teams to understand technical constraints and ensure successful outcomes.
- Identify platform gaps and build custom solutions to meet customer needs, feeding requirements back to product and engineering.
- Codify deployment patterns and build internal playbooks as a founding member of the FDE function.
- Travel regularly (25-40%) to customer locations across Germany and EMEA.
Requirements
- 6+ years of software engineering experience with a track record of shipping production code.
- Full-stack development skills, comfortable across backend, API layer, and frontend.
- Experience working directly with customers in high-stakes technical environments.
- Ability to operate autonomously in ambiguous situations and define the path forward.
- Strong English communication skills for engaging with engineers and senior stakeholders.
- Experience at a company known for forward-deployed or embedded engineering models is strongly preferred.
- Background building internal tools or custom applications within customer infrastructure is strongly preferred.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
- Prior work at an early-stage team defining processes from scratch is a plus.
