Anthropic is seeking a Threat Intel Manager to establish and lead their Influence Operations & Surveillance team. This role is crucial for detecting, investigating, and disrupting the misuse of Anthropic's AI systems by authoritarian states and commercial spyware for influence operations, coordinated inauthentic behavior, and surveillance. This is a foundational leadership position where you will develop the team's detection capabilities, define the strategy for countering state-linked information manipulation and surveillance misuse, and handle complex investigations. Please note, this role may involve exposure to sensitive content and require weekend/holiday availability.
Responsibilities
- Define strategy, priorities, and outcomes for the Influence Operations & Surveillance threat intelligence mission.
- Recruit, manage, and mentor a team of technical threat investigators specializing in IO and surveillance.
- Lead investigations into state-linked surveillance misuse, including commercial spyware and AI-enabled influence campaigns.
- Develop automated detection capabilities for abuse signals, behavioral clustering, and coordinated network detection.
- Perform cross-platform analysis to link on-platform activity to broader campaigns across various digital channels.
- Attribute campaigns to specific threat actors, with a focus on state-sponsored operations.
- Manage external engagements with government partners, platform integrity teams, researchers, and threat intelligence communities.
- Produce public and partner-facing reports on AI-enabled IO and surveillance, and inform safety-by-design strategies.
Requirements
- Deep subject matter expertise in influence operations, coordinated inauthentic behavior, or state surveillance/commercial spyware.
- Proven experience leading investigative or threat intelligence teams.
- Proficiency in SQL and Python for data analysis and threat detection.
- Experience attributing campaigns to specific threat actors, including state-sponsored operations.
- Strong OSINT tradecraft for investigating online information ecosystems.
- Hands-on experience with large language models and their potential weaponization for IO and surveillance.
- Ability to present analytical work to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership and government stakeholders.

- Annual compensation range: $375,000 - $455,000 USD
