Anthropic is seeking a Threat Intel Manager to establish and lead a new team focused on Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and Explosives (CBRN-E) threats and advanced weapons. This role involves maturing the team from its current stage into a robust investigative program, hiring specialized investigators, and enhancing threat detection capabilities. The manager will personally lead critical investigations, assess potential misuse of AI systems for weapon development, and engage with government, biosecurity, and scientific stakeholders. This position may involve exposure to sensitive content and require weekend/holiday on-call responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Own strategy, priorities, and outcomes for the CBRN-E & Advanced Weapons mission area.
- Hire, manage, and develop a team of investigators with deep domain expertise.
- Lead investigations into attempts to use AI systems for developing or enhancing CBRN-E or advanced weapons.
- Evolve detection methods towards CBRN-specific signals and methodologies.
- Set the analytic quality bar for cross-platform threat analysis.
- Own escalation and enforcement decisions for high-severity misuse cases.
- Lead external engagement with government agencies and research communities.
- Inform safety-by-design and capability-evaluation strategies by forecasting AI misuse for CBRN-E purposes.
- Serve as a liaison to government partners, educating stakeholders on AI-enabled threats.
Requirements
- Intelligence analyst, policy expert, or researcher with deep domain expertise in biosecurity, chemical defense, weapons non-proliferation, or related CBRN-E threat domains.
- Demonstrated experience leading investigative or analytic teams and program building.
- Experience with threat actor profiling, threat intelligence analysis frameworks, and collection frameworks.
- Hands-on experience with large language models and understanding of AI misuse for CBRN-E threats.
- Excellent stakeholder management skills across diverse teams and external partners.
- Ability to present analytical work to technical and non-technical audiences, including government stakeholders and senior leadership.

- Annual compensation range: $375,000 - $455,000 USD
