About the job
Anthropic's RL Data Platform team is responsible for building the systems that generate, process, and serve the human data used to train Claude. This involves creating interfaces for human feedback, developing pipelines to transform raw feedback into training signals, and providing tools for researchers to launch, monitor, and analyze data collection efforts. The team ensures a consistent supply of high-quality data, enabling researchers to collect new data types rapidly and integrate them into the training process. This is a full-stack, ownership-driven role on a senior team, requiring the engineer to design and implement web interfaces for annotators, build backend services and data pipelines, and collaborate closely with RL researchers to define and fulfill data requirements. The role emphasizes building for reliability, treating researchers as users, and ensuring the quality of the data produced.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate feedback and data collection interfaces for annotators, experts, and researchers.
- Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and pipelines for routing model samples and returning structured feedback.
- Ensure the reliability, latency, and usability of continuously operating systems.
- Partner with RL researchers to translate data needs into collection campaigns and tooling.
- Develop dashboards, monitoring, and inspection tools for researchers to assess data quality and throughput.
- Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in the data collection and training pipeline.
Requirements
- Strong full-stack engineering skills with production experience in TypeScript/React (frontend) and Python (backend).
- Experience designing and operating backend services and data pipelines.
- Proven track record of owning projects end-to-end from concept to production.
- Comfort working with technical stakeholders and managing changing requirements.
- Effective use of AI tools in daily work.
- Commitment to considering the societal impacts of AI work.
Benefits
- Annual compensation range: $320,000 - $405,000 USD
