This role is at the intersection of systems engineering and security, focusing on the secure execution environment for Claude's agentic capabilities. The team owns the infrastructure that enables Claude to write code, browse the web, and use a computer, ensuring untrusted code execution is safe, fast, and reliable at scale for all Anthropic products. The goal is to create a seamless experience for product teams by providing a robust layer between the model and the outside world.
Responsibilities
- Independently scope complex, multi-month projects.
- Drive cross-organizational alignment on ambiguous problems.
- Make architectural decisions that influence product scaling.
- Partner with research to productize cutting-edge capabilities.
- Impact the platform used by hundreds of thousands of companies and engineers.
Requirements
- Minimum of 8 years of practical experience as a backend or platform engineer.
- Experience building scalable distributed systems, ideally at a tech lead level.
- Experience with cloud-native products, developer tools, or external developer-facing products.
- Strong fundamentals in service-oriented architectures, networking, and systems design.
- Experience owning the technical vision and execution of a foundational platform system end-to-end.
- Proficiency in Python, Go, Rust, or similar systems languages.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure (GCP, AWS, or Azure).
- Experience with container orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Experience with multi-cloud networking.
- Ability to take full ownership from design through deployment and operations.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and make sound technical decisions independently.
- Experience in 0 to 1 product development or mature team/company settings.
- Product-focused approach to platform work, building robust, scalable, and user-friendly solutions.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
