Our team builds the systems that enable every change to Anthropic's software to reach production safely and predictably. This includes managing pipelines, staged rollouts, health-gated promotion, rollback, runtime configuration, and feature flags across a large fleet of machines. You will own a significant part of this end-to-end process, from initial design to ongoing operation in production. Responsibilities
- Set technical direction and own major components of the deployment platform end-to-end, including design, implementation, and operations.
- Integrate progressive delivery, health-gated promotion, automatic pause/rollback, and self-managed deploy controls into the platform.
- Design APIs and abstractions suitable for both human engineers and AI agents.
- Extend the platform to support new workload types and runtimes, including Kubernetes, serverless, and edge platforms.
- Build and operate runtime configuration and feature flag systems with validation, gradual rollout, and fast rollback capabilities.
- Develop infrastructure-as-code workflows to facilitate safe and routine changes for multiple teams.
- Scale artifact distribution to ensure rapid and efficient delivery of code and configuration to machines.
- Collaborate with Security to ensure the path to production is secure by default, featuring verifiable builds, least-privilege access, and auditable changes.
- Engage with teams across Anthropic to understand their deployment needs and onboard their workloads onto the platform.
- Participate in on-call rotations and incident response, using learnings to implement preventative guardrails.
Requirements
- Proficiency in at least one backend or systems programming language (e.g., Rust, Go, C++, Java).
- Experience leading the design, building, and operation of distributed systems or infrastructure in production, including providing technical direction across teams.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and containerized workloads (e.g., Kubernetes on AWS or GCP).
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
