About the job

Anthropic is building AI systems that are safe, beneficial, and transformative, aiming to develop AI that benefits humanity. Frontier AI relies on datacenters, and the company is seeking versatile software engineers to build software and Claude-powered tools that will help scale compute infrastructure. The engineers will embed with teams involved in site sourcing, building design, equipment procurement, and construction management, learning their work to build essential tools and systems. This role offers an opportunity to significantly impact one of the most consequential infrastructure buildouts in the world, with a focus on improving how complex physical-world operations are managed through software.

Responsibilities

  • Build core systems for tracking datacenter lifecycle stages (sites, designs, bills of materials, equipment, construction progress) into a unified source of truth.
  • Collaborate with datacenter, energy, and supply chain teams to understand workflows, identify critical paths, and develop essential tools.
  • Organize and migrate messy data from spreadsheets and legacy trackers, integrating with industry tools for construction management, scheduling, and engineering.
  • Design systems with fine-grained permissions, auditability, and data quality to support major investment decisions.
  • Ship features early, iterate with users, and prioritize tasks that accelerate compute deployment.
  • Partner with research teams to understand new model capabilities and identify limitations in engineering-heavy, physical-world domains.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of software development experience, with strong full-stack skills, data modeling, APIs, and databases.
  • Experience building software relied upon by teams in physical-world industries like datacenters, construction, energy, manufacturing, supply chain, or logistics.
  • Proven track record of zero-to-one development in startup or startup-like environments.
  • Deep user-centricity, with the ability to learn domains from practitioners and validate solutions before extensive investment.
  • High agency, sound judgment, and the ability to hold strong opinions loosely.
  • Clear communication skills across engineering, operations, and research.
  • Commitment to understanding and addressing the societal impacts of AI work.

Benefits

  • Annual compensation range: $405,000 - $485,000 USD
