Anthropic's mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems, believing that powerful AI can accelerate scientific progress. The Claude Science team is building an AI workbench that consolidates tools for researchers, enabling them to manage literature, databases, scientific computing, analysis, and output generation within a single environment. This role offers the opportunity to shape a new product category, influencing both the product and its architecture. You will act as a technical leader, focusing on the end-to-end researcher experience, collaborating with internal research teams to integrate model capabilities into production, and taking ownership of future product development.
Responsibilities
- Ship product features based on a roadmap that you help define.
- Engage directly with scientists to understand their workflows and translate insights into engineering priorities.
- Collaborate with product and design teams to develop features that support the scientific process from hypothesis to publication.
- Work with research teams to enhance model capabilities for scientific tasks, including shaping evaluations and identifying failure modes.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience.
- 2+ years of experience at a Staff or equivalent technical leadership level.
- Experience building products from inception to launch in fast-paced environments.
- Proven ability to set technical direction with limited precedent.
- Experience building AI products and translating model capabilities into user-facing applications.
- Comfort working directly with technical domain experts and translating their needs.
- Ability to drive cross-team alignment to deliver impactful work.
