The Claude Science team is building an AI workbench that integrates tools for researchers, enabling them to perform tasks spanning literature review, database interaction, scientific computing, analysis, and publication. This role offers the opportunity to shape both the product and architecture of a novel category of AI tools, with a focus on accelerating scientific discovery across various disciplines. The technical leader will focus on the end-to-end researcher experience, collaborate with internal research teams to deploy model capabilities, and take ownership of future product development.
Responsibilities
- Ship against a roadmap that you help shape for a new product category.
- Interface directly with scientists to understand their workflows and translate feedback into engineering priorities.
- Partner with product and design teams to develop features based on scientific workflows.
- Collaborate with research teams to enhance model capabilities for scientific tasks, including shaping evaluations and surfacing real-world user feedback.
Requirements
- 8+ years of software engineering experience.
- 2+ years of experience at a Staff or equivalent technical leadership level.
- Experience building products from inception to launch in fast-paced environments.
- Experience setting technical direction with limited precedent.
- Experience building AI products and translating model capabilities into user-facing applications.
- Comfort working directly with technical domain experts and translating their needs.
- Ability to drive cross-team alignment to ship impactful work.

- Annual compensation range: $405,000 - $485,000 USD
