This role offers the opportunity to help shape how Anthropic communicates about its approach to developing secure AI systems and products, its work to uphold its Responsible Scaling Policy framework, and its unique corporate structure that keeps the company accountable to its mission. You will partner closely with security, product, legal, governance, and Responsible Scaling Policy (RSP) teams to communicate Anthropic's approach to building safe and secure AI models. You will also help lead communications about how Anthropic is governed, including the role of the Long-Term Benefit Trust's independent trustees and its public benefit corporation charter. As governments establish regulatory frameworks for frontier AI, you will help articulate Anthropic's transparency obligations and public reporting commitments, translating evolving requirements into clear, credible external communications. This role requires strong communications fundamentals to navigate novel issues in a fast-moving field.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute communications strategies for AI security, governance, and responsible scaling.
- Drive external communications about corporate governance, including the Long-Term Benefit Trust and public benefit corporation status.
- Serve as a trusted communications partner to security, product, legal, governance, and RSP leaders on sensitive matters.
- Develop proactive communications around emerging regulatory frameworks and transparency obligations.
- Manage reactive inbound media requests on complex security and governance topics.
- Build and maintain relationships with journalists and influencers covering security, corporate governance, and technology policy.
- Prepare executives for media interviews, speaking engagements, and public appearances.
- Write blog posts, statements, talking points, and other communications materials.
- Support reactive communications efforts with speed, accuracy, and sound judgment.
Requirements
- Experience in policy communications, including managing communications around complex security or governance topics.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex technical topics accurately for broad audiences.
- Experience in issues management and developing reactive communications under pressure and tight timelines.
- Strong executive management skills and a proven ability to work seamlessly across technical and non-technical teams.
- A track record of building media relationships.
- A results-oriented, high-agency working style, with a bias toward flexibility and impact.
- Comfort operating in new terrain where the technology is evolving quickly.
- A deep commitment to ensuring that transformative AI systems are developed safely.
