About the job
As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) on the Applied AI team, you will embed directly with strategic customers to drive the adoption of transformational AI. You will collaborate closely with customer teams to ship advanced AI applications that solve real-world business problems, accelerating the adoption of existing products and creating new applications built on Anthropic's models. This role combines engineering expertise, an understanding of frontier AI applications, and customer-facing skills to understand workflows and develop innovative solutions for complex business challenges, while upholding high standards for safety and reliability. You will be at the forefront of enterprise AI deployments and play a key role in championing Anthropic's mission within client organizations.
Responsibilities
- Develop production applications with Claude models within customer systems, ensuring they meet client requirements.
- Provide clients with technical artifacts such as MCP servers, sub-agents, and agent skills for production workflows.
- Assist with the deployment of Anthropic products in enterprise environments.
- Identify and codify reproducible deployment patterns, and provide feedback to Product and Engineering teams.
- Maintain deep knowledge of LLM capabilities, implementation patterns, and AI product development tech stacks.
- Build long-term customer relationships and proactively identify new AI deployment opportunities.
- Travel frequently (25-50%) to customer sites to build personal relationships.
- Act as a champion for Anthropic's mission in the field.
Requirements
- Over 4 years of experience in a customer-facing technical role, such as a Forward Deployed Engineer or Software Engineer with consulting experience.
- Experience with LLMs in production, including advanced prompt engineering, agent development, evaluation frameworks, and large-scale deployment.
- Strong programming skills with proficiency in Python and ideally other languages like TypeScript or Java.
- Experience shipping production applications.
- High degree of agency, capable of navigating ambiguity in complex organizations.
- Strong collaborative spirit for cross-organizational collaboration, balancing competing priorities with integrity.
- Passion for advancing safe and beneficial AI systems through creative technical applications.
- Strong communication skills for exploratory discussions with clients and conveying technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Experience in financial services, healthcare/life sciences, or another industry is a plus.
- Experience with enterprise IT systems and/or AI deployment patterns is a plus.
