About the job
As a member of the Applied AI team, you will serve as a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) embedded directly with strategic customers to drive transformational AI adoption. You will collaborate closely with customer teams to ship advanced AI applications that solve real-world business problems, accelerating the adoption of existing products and creating new applications built on our models. Working with Post-Sales, Product, and Engineering teams, you'll combine engineering expertise, an understanding of frontier AI applications, and customer-facing skills to develop innovative solutions for complex business challenges while maintaining high standards for safety and reliability. You will operate autonomously, thrive under ambiguity, and represent Anthropic at the highest level in customer environments, playing a key role in championing our mission in the enterprise.
Responsibilities
- Build production applications with Claude models within customer systems to meet requirements.
- Deliver technical artifacts like MCP servers, sub-agents, and agent skills for production workflows.
- Provide white-glove deployment support for Anthropic products in enterprise environments.
- Identify and codify repeatable deployment patterns and provide insights to Product and Engineering teams.
- Maintain strong knowledge of LLM capabilities, implementation patterns, and AI product development stacks.
- Build long-term customer relationships and identify new AI deployment opportunities.
- Travel up to 25% to customer sites for in-person collaboration.
- Act as a champion for Anthropic’s mission in the field.
Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in a technical, customer-facing role (e.g., Forward Deployed Engineer, Software Engineer with consulting experience, or former technical founder).
- Production experience with LLMs, including advanced prompt engineering, agent development, evaluation frameworks, and large-scale deployment.
- Strong programming skills, proficient in Python and ideally other languages like Typescript or Java, with experience shipping production applications.
- High agency and ability to navigate ambiguity in complex organizations.
- Strong cooperation mindset for cross-organizational collaboration and balancing priorities.
- Passion for advancing safe, beneficial AI systems through creative technical applications.
- Strong communication skills for customer discovery and conveying technical concepts to diverse stakeholders.
- Background in financial services, healthcare/life sciences, or another enterprise vertical is a plus.
- Experience with enterprise IT systems and/or AI deployment patterns is a plus.
- Experience working as an FDE or in a professional services context is a plus.
Benefits
- Annual compensation range: $280,000 - $320,000 USD
