Anthropic is seeking a Finance & Strategy (FP&A) Systems Engineer to join their Finance Systems team. This role is responsible for building and maintaining platforms that support core Financial Planning, Forecasting, and Analytics processes. The engineer will leverage expertise in EPM platforms like Anaplan and Pigment, as well as data platforms like BigQuery, to create integrations, tooling, and production code connecting these systems to Anthropic’s ERP and data warehouse. Collaboration with Corporate Finance & Strategy stakeholders is key to translating business requirements into technical solutions, ensuring data integrity, and driving improvements in financial systems infrastructure. The role involves managing daily Finance system operations, supporting critical financial processes and forecasting cycles, and undertaking ambitious system projects, including the use of Claude for FP&A automation to enable scalable financial planning, forecasting, and reporting.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary system administrator for the financial planning platform (Pigment), maintaining system health and performance.
- Manage Finance applications, data, user access, security, system configurations, and version management.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for end-users, resolving issues and answering system-related questions.
- Design, build, and maintain applications and financial models using in-house tools and EPM platforms like Pigment.
- Develop and maintain secure dataflows and integrations using Rest APIs to connect FP&A platforms and data warehouses with enterprise systems.
- Develop SQL-based data models, ETL pipelines, and reporting infrastructure.
- Partner with Finance & Strategy, Accounting, and other Finance teams to understand business problems and build solutions using AI tools.
- Support monthly forecast, annual & long-range planning, workforce planning, OPEX forecasting, and balance sheet & cash flow forecasting processes.
- Identify and implement process and Finance platform improvements.
- Participate in testing and validation of system changes.
- Assist with training and onboarding of new system users.
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data across systems.
- Develop and maintain data validation rules and quality checks.
- Troubleshoot data discrepancies and collaborate with teams to resolve issues.
- Support data migration and transformation activities.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in FP&A systems, EPM platforms, and Finance data warehouses, focusing on financial planning, forecasting, and analysis.
- Hands-on experience administering and developing solutions in enterprise planning platforms (e.g., Pigment, Anaplan, Adaptive Planning).
- Strong engineering and technical skills including advanced SQL and data modeling.
- Experience creating and maintaining system integrations and data pipelines.
- Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and system designs.
- Strong understanding of FP&A processes, financial reporting, and accounting principles.
