About the job

Anthropic is seeking an experienced Public Policy expert based in Seoul to lead the company's policy engagement in South Korea. This role is crucial for advancing practical AI governance and supporting Anthropic's commercial expansion. You will build strategic relationships with Korean government authorities, develop policy positions, and engage in outreach to influence AI policy and safety discussions. This is a foundational role where you will establish Anthropic's policy presence in Seoul from the ground up, collaborating with a distributed policy team on various projects including policy analysis, drafting submissions, campaign execution, and advising technical colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Map key Korean AI policy stakeholders and build strategic relationships with government officials, think tanks, and civil society leaders.
  • Brief diverse policy and research actors on AI safety and policy opportunities in the Korean context.
  • Convene stakeholders and speak at policy events on AI safety topics.
  • Analyze emerging legislation and develop engagement strategies, including preparing policy submissions.
  • Support senior colleagues in external engagements by preparing briefs and managing follow-up.
  • Develop new programming and opportunities for engagement with Korean policymakers and organizations.
  • Translate Anthropic research into policy proposals and thought leadership tailored to the Korean regulatory environment.
  • Develop and amplify public submissions and policy memos to drive positive change in AI policy.
  • Partner with organizations and researchers to publish discussion papers on responsible AI development.
  • Develop and execute a convening strategy, such as workshops or panels, to position Anthropic as a thought leader in AI safety and governance in South Korea.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional experience in government, technology, legal, or other policy-relevant environments.
  • Track record of effective advocacy with Korean government authorities.
  • Experience analyzing legislation and engaging in regulatory processes.
  • Ability to translate complex technical topics into accessible information for policymakers, civil society, and think tanks.
  • Skill in translating high-level vision into executable operational plans.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly understand complex technical areas and policy dynamics.
  • Curiosity about frontier technological research and eagerness to work with technical colleagues.
  • Fluency in Korean and English.
