About the job

As an AV Operations Specialist, you will be responsible for the performance of AV spaces, the resolution of support requests, and the successful execution of events. This role involves owning all aspects of the AV landscape, from performing preventative maintenance and troubleshooting recurring issues to providing technical coverage for company-wide events. You will act as the on-site AV expert, identifying and resolving problems before they are reported by users, and translating on-the-ground learnings into improved standards for the wider team. Your work directly supports collaboration and transparency, contributing to Anthropic's AI safety mission.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the AV owner for your office, ensuring the health, readiness, and performance of all rooms and event spaces.
  • Execute preventative maintenance programs and room sweeps on a regular schedule.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of AV systems, peripherals, and production gear, including a spares strategy.
  • Coordinate AV scope for office moves, reconfigurations, and new space readiness.
  • Maintain documentation, as-builts, and site-specific information for AV systems.
  • Manage the AV support queue, including triage, prioritization, resolution, and escalation.
  • Participate in the regional AV on-call rotation to cover AV issues during business hours.
  • Systematically isolate AV faults to specific components in the signal chain.
  • Identify recurring issues and work towards root cause analysis for platform-level fixes.
  • Contribute to the creation of runbooks, standard operating procedures, and knowledge base documentation.
  • Provide technical coverage for live and hybrid events, including executive presentations and company-wide broadcasts.
  • Operate event production systems such as audio consoles, video switchers, and streaming encoders.
  • Conduct pre-event readiness checks, including walkthroughs, rehearsals, and failover planning.
  • Collaborate with requesters to define event scope and translate needs into equipment and staffing plans.
  • Develop repeatable standards for novel events to streamline future productions.
  • Direct AV integrators, contractors, and event labor on-site, ensuring adherence to scope and quality standards.
  • Partner with Workplace, Events, and IT departments on AV-related readiness and expectations.
  • Provide feedback to AV Engineering on system performance, deficiencies, and potential improvements.
  • Communicate AV status, risks, and resolutions to non-technical stakeholders clearly and concisely.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in AV operations, workplace technology, or technical event support.
  • Experience owning a fixed AV estate and being accountable for its performance over time.
  • Working fluency across room systems, event audio, video, camera, and streaming, with diagnostic capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently as the sole AV person on-site and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Skill in bringing structure to ambiguous situations through checklists, intake processes, and documentation.
  • Comfort in being a front-facing technical partner to various stakeholders.
  • Proactive approach to end-to-end ownership, from identifying failures to implementing permanent fixes.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic environment where standards are actively being developed.
