About the job
As an AV Engineer focused on Platform & Automation, you will build and own the software layer of Anthropic's collaboration systems. This involves creating the tools, integrations, and engineering practices that enable a small AV team to support a rapidly expanding global office portfolio. Your primary focus will be on transforming API-managed systems for rooms, event spaces, and broadcast into reliable, team-owned tooling, applying software engineering discipline to their development and maintenance. A significant portion of your work will involve writing, deploying, and operating code for fleet health monitoring, automated room testing and ticketing, and integrations between AV platforms and IT systems.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and ship internal tools and integrations to monitor, test, and manage AV and collaboration systems.
- Develop fleet health monitoring and automated room testing to proactively identify and resolve issues.
- Build integrations across AV platforms (e.g., Q-SYS, Logitech Sync, Google Meet hardware) and IT systems (e.g., Jira, Slack, PagerDuty, Google Workspace).
- Automate repetitive operational tasks such as provisioning, configuration, and asset management using code.
- Manage the lifecycle of software platforms for the AV estate, including firmware and software release management.
- Operate internal tools as production services with robust monitoring, alerting, and runbooks.
- Establish and enforce team engineering practices, including source control, code review, testing, and CI/CD.
- Enable non-developers (AV Engineers, Operations Specialists, Production staff) to contribute safely through templates and guardrails.
- Collaborate with Security, IT Engineering, and Network teams on API access, secrets management, and enterprise standards.
- Gather requirements, prioritize the tooling roadmap, and make decisions on build vs. buy for AV solutions.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in AV, collaboration, or IT systems engineering.
- 4+ years of experience writing, shipping, and maintaining production code.
- Fluency in at least one general-purpose programming language (e.g., Python, Lua, Go, TypeScript) and shell scripting.
- Proficiency in engineering fundamentals: Git workflows, code review, automated testing, CI/CD, logging, and observability.
- Understanding of AV and collaboration systems (DSP, conferencing, room devices, signal flow, AV-over-IP).
- Experience building integrations with REST APIs, webhooks, and vendor SDKs, including error handling.
- Experience owning a production tool or service over its lifecycle.
- Experience defining engineering practices for a team, especially with non-developer contributors.
- Ability to translate operational challenges into well-scoped tooling solutions.
- Adaptability to a fast-moving environment with evolving standards.
