As an Applied AI Architect on the Startups team, you will be an exceptional technical partner to founders and engineers, helping them successfully build on the Claude Developer Platform. You'll combine deep technical expertise with a builder-first mindset to guide startups in architecting innovative LLM solutions, winning technical evaluations, and maximizing the value of Anthropic's AI systems. Working closely with sales, product, and engineering teams, you will guide startups from initial technical discovery through successful deployment and beyond, helping them understand Claude's capabilities and design effective architectures.
Responsibilities
- Partner with account executives to understand startup requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the Claude adoption journey.
- Win technical evaluations by demonstrating Claude's advantages and helping startups develop evaluation frameworks for their specific use cases.
- Build technical credibility with founders and engineering teams by speaking their language and guiding technical architecture decisions.
- Gather insights on startup usage of Claude, identify emerging use cases, and provide feedback to product and engineering teams.
- Travel to customer sites, events, and conferences for workshops, technical deep dives, and relationship building.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience in technical customer-facing roles (e.g., Solutions Architect, Sales Engineer, Forward Deployed Engineer) or as a technical founder.
- Experience working with startups or high-growth technology companies, understanding their velocity and constraints.
- Strong builder credibility through software engineering or technical founder experience.
- Deep technical proficiency in building and scaling AI products, with knowledge of AI engineering best practices.
- Hands-on experience building and deploying LLM-powered applications in production, including context engineering, evaluation frameworks, and modern AI architectures.
- Strong technical communication skills to translate complex AI concepts for founders and engineering teams.
- Track record of selling technical products in competitive markets.
- Comfort with Python and familiarity with common LLM frameworks, tools, and integration patterns.
- Passion for making powerful technology safe and societally beneficial.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

- Annual compensation range: $240,000 - $315,000 USD (OTE for sales roles)
