About the job

Anthropic is dedicated to building reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems that are safe and beneficial for users and society. The Beneficial Deployments team specifically works to ensure AI reaches and benefits communities in need, partnering with nonprofits and mission-driven organizations. As an Applied AI Architect on the Life Sciences team, you will focus on empowering scientists to leverage Claude, particularly Claude Science. Your role will involve running enablement sessions, workshops, and hackathons, developing compelling demos showcasing the capabilities of frontier models for scientific applications, and fostering a community of scientists actively building with Claude. You will also be instrumental in scaling scientific enablement within Anthropic, equipping our Applied AI and customer-facing teams to support scientists independently.

Responsibilities

  • Lead scientific enablement initiatives, including planning, material development, delivery, and impact measurement to ensure research teams adopt Claude for daily use.
  • Design and execute programs to activate scientists at scale, such as LSVP and Claude for Researchers, by setting goals and managing program execution.
  • Create demos, notebooks, and tutorials to illustrate the practical applications of frontier models for scientists and actively engage in online scientific communities.
  • Scale scientific enablement internally by training Applied AI and Customer Success teams and developing playbooks for independent operation.
  • Build and champion a community of scientists around Claude, supporting ambassador programs and representing the community at events.
  • Act as the voice of scientists within Anthropic, translating feedback into actionable requests and collaborating with Marketing and Comms for targeted outreach.

Requirements

  • Possess deep hands-on expertise with AI tools for science, such as Claude Science, understanding their strengths and limitations.
  • Demonstrate credibility as a scientist with practical experience in academic labs, biotechs, pharma, or research institutes, ideally as a user of relevant tools.
  • Proven track record of assisting scientific teams in adopting new tools through demos, training, workshops, or hackathons.
  • Stay current with AI advancements in science, including agentic analysis and AI co-scientists, and be able to communicate these concepts to working scientists.
  • Have hands-on experience building with LLM APIs to prototype working demos, without the need for production-level coding.
  • Exhibit clear written and spoken communication skills, capable of producing useful talks, tutorials, and documentation for scientists.
  • Demonstrate a history of taking programs or products from conception to successful outcomes, showing initiative and accountability.
  • Be comfortable operating in ambiguous environments, bringing clarity to complex problems, and adapting to various roles to achieve the mission.

Benefits

  • Annual compensation range: $275,000 - $315,000 USD
  • Visa sponsorship available
  • Encouragement to apply even if not all qualifications are met
  • Support for underrepresented groups experiencing imposter syndrome
