Anthropic is seeking an Applied AI Architect to join the Beneficial Deployments team, focusing on maximizing the impact of Claude within the life sciences sector. The primary goal is to accelerate scientific progress across R&D and translation by making Claude the essential tool for the life sciences ecosystem, from academic discovery to biotech and pharmaceutical pipelines. This role involves serving as the main technical advisor to life sciences partners, driving engagements from discovery to deployment, and collaborating with the segment lead and Applied AI Engineers to achieve impactful outcomes. You will be a key member of the founding Beneficial Deployments Applied AI team, dedicated to advancing life sciences with AI.
Responsibilities
- Act as the primary technical advisor for life sciences research institutions and mission-driven organizations throughout their Claude adoption.
- Partner with the segment lead to understand scientific workflows and develop impactful solutions from discovery to deployment.
- Transform partners into AI-native organizations by enabling Claude Code and Claude Science, and evolving research and business processes.
- Design and lead cohort-based accelerators to scale expertise and impact across multiple institutions.
- Identify challenges in AI deployment within life sciences and provide feedback to product, engineering, and research teams.
- Analyze partner patterns to inform ecosystem-level development, including MCP servers, benchmarks, evals, and reusable agent skills.
- Create technical presentations, demos, and scalable content like documentation, tutorials, and sample code.
- Travel occasionally to partner sites for workshops, technical deep dives, and relationship building.
- Contribute to shaping team processes and culture during scaling.
Requirements
- 8+ years in a technical role, preferably with customer-facing experience (e.g., Solutions Architect, Customer Engineer, Technical Account Manager).
- Experience in life sciences, biomedical research, or scientific computing; experience in genomics, neuroscience, or drug discovery is a plus.
- Experience building trust with academic research institutions, biotech, pharma, or other mission-driven scientific organizations.
- Familiarity with common LLM implementation patterns, including prompt engineering, context engineering, evaluation frameworks, agent architectures, and retrieval frameworks.
- A passion for teaching, mentoring, and enabling others.
- A scrappy mentality, comfortable with ambiguity, building from scratch, and wearing multiple hats.
Benefits
- Annual compensation range: £165,000 — £190,000 GBP
