About the job
Anthrogen is engineering post-modality biology by developing AI systems that design modular biological machines and the experimental infrastructure to instantiate them. We are seeking exceptional engineers excited about frontier AI, particularly for scientific applications. In this role, you will build and scale the systems behind our models, including distributed training, data infrastructure, and high-throughput inference, taking ownership of challenging problems from start to finish. While biology is the domain, this is fundamentally a frontier systems engineering position.
Responsibilities
- Build and scale distributed training systems, GPU optimization, and high-throughput data pipelines.
- Own inference and serving systems that operate at scale.
- Collaborate closely with researchers to transform concepts into reliable infrastructure.
- Take ownership of complex, ambiguous problems from inception to production.
Requirements
- Proficiency in writing exceptional, production-grade code, with strong Python skills and experience in a systems language.
- Demonstrated experience through shipped systems, open-source contributions, or competition results.
- Hands-on experience with large-scale ML systems, including distributed training, GPU optimization, high-throughput data pipelines, or inference and serving at scale.
- High-agency, willingness to be onsite, and a proactive attitude towards problem-solving.
Benefits
- Equity: 0.05-0.5%
