About the job
Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Industrial Engineer to lead and scale the company's manufacturing simulation capability. This role involves owning the factory simulation system as a durable, decision-grade asset that evolves with production systems and is trusted for capital, capacity, staffing, and ramp decisions. The engineer will act as a connective tissue among operational stakeholders in a fast-paced, resource-limited environment. Simulation will be used both as a central service for requests like capacity studies and scenario analysis, and as an integrated step in the Manufacturing Development Plan (MDP) process to model and confirm line designs, identify bottlenecks, and validate production system performance before physical implementation. The goal is to create a maintained, centralized model that provides digestible, defensible production plans for program and operations leads.
Responsibilities
- Own and architect Anduril's discrete event simulation and operations-research capability for manufacturing line design as a foundational asset.
- Integrate simulation capabilities with existing business systems in collaboration with IT and Tech Teams.
- Build and manage a centralized simulation intake and prioritization process for receiving, scoping, and triaging requests.
- Define the application of simulation at various stages of the Manufacturing Development Plan (MDP) process.
- Collaborate with material flow, layout, labor standards, manufacturing test design, and automation teams to build integrated production system simulation models.
- Capture and model current and planned manufacturing processes.
Requirements
- Demonstrated holistic ownership of factory simulation capability.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, resource-limited environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to change and ambiguity.
- Ability to act as connective tissue among operational stakeholders.
- Experience with discrete event simulation and operations research for manufacturing line design.
- Experience integrating simulation into existing business systems.
- Experience building and managing intake and prioritization systems for simulation requests.
- Experience defining simulation usage within NPI and MDP processes.
- Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams (material flow, layout, labor standards, test design, automation).
- Ability to capture and model current and planned manufacturing processes.
