About the job

Anduril Industries is seeking an Applied LLM Systems Engineer to design, build, and operate production AI systems that enhance the creation, transformation, validation, maintenance, and delivery of technical documentation. This role focuses on building AI-assisted authoring, automated publishing, and multi-agent coordination tools for the Technical Publications pipeline. It requires a systems-engineering approach for someone experienced in delivering production AI systems, understanding evaluation and rollback, and managing probabilistic systems in enterprise environments with strict requirements. The goal is to expand system capability while optimizing token usage, context efficiency, and cost at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Build production-grade LLM applications for documentation and knowledge-work workflows.
  • Design orchestration for multi-step workflows coordinating models, tools, and deterministic services.
  • Optimize context management, token usage, caching, and workflow design for cost, latency, and task success.
  • Build retrieval, structured-output, and tool-integrated systems interacting with enterprise content, source control, and documentation systems.
  • Design evaluation frameworks and regression testing for prompts, models, tools, and workflows.
  • Establish observability, auditability, rollback, and safe failure modes for AI-assisted workflows.
  • Collaborate with technical writers, illustrators, and engineers to identify high-value AI applications.
  • Preserve provenance between source material, generated output, validation results, and human decisions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, including building and operating production services.
  • Direct experience delivering at least one production AI system with measurable user adoption.
  • Experience optimizing cost, latency, and context usage in production LLM or workflow systems.
  • Experience designing evaluation, observability, rollback, and failure handling for nondeterministic systems.
  • Strong proficiency in Python and modern API, data, and service-development practices.
  • Sound judgment on appropriate use of probabilistic AI versus deterministic software or human review.
  • Eligibility for Secret and higher security clearance (US).
  • Subject to pre-employment and randomized substance screening.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants
  • Top-tier benefits for full-time employees
