About the job

Statsig is building an Enterprise Engineering team for engineers who want unusually direct ownership of high-stakes customer outcomes. This role is akin to a Forward Deployed Engineering team, working extremely close to customers and tackling their most critical technical problems. Unlike traditional FDE roles, Enterprise Engineering is responsible for a customer's technical success throughout their entire journey, from initial questions and investigations to shipping fixes and features, and remaining accountable through resolution. This is a software engineering role with a tight customer feedback loop, ideal for a pragmatic generalist with backend or infrastructure depth who enjoys ambiguous problems, production systems, fast decisions, and immediate impact.

Responsibilities

  • Serve on the engineering front line for key customer accounts, addressing technical issues within the Slack aggregation and workflow layer.
  • Answer technical questions by analyzing code, tracing behavior, inspecting production signals, and providing clear explanations.
  • Diagnose and fix bugs, validating outcomes with customers.
  • Design and implement product or platform features to solve customer problems efficiently.
  • Act as the engineering point of contact for urgent issues in key customer accounts, coordinating responses while maintaining technical ownership.
  • Represent engineering in customer office hours and recurring meetings.
  • Partner with customer-facing and product teams, ensuring clear ownership, communication, and escalation paths.
  • Identify recurring customer issues and drive improvements in tooling, documentation, observability, APIs, and product surfaces.
  • Help define the operating model, technical standards, and culture for a new Enterprise Engineering team.

Requirements

  • Strong software engineering experience with the ability to contribute production-quality code in a large, evolving codebase.
  • Generalist mindset with significant depth in backend, distributed systems, infrastructure, data systems, or developer platforms.
  • Excellent debugging instincts, capable of moving from imprecise reports to reproducible problems, root causes, and robust fixes.
  • Comfort operating in production environments, using logs, traces, metrics, and code to understand system behavior.
  • Bias toward action without sacrificing engineering quality, knowing when to make contained fixes, invest in broader solutions, or escalate.
  • Clear, empathetic communication skills for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Composure and sound judgment in urgent situations.
  • Low ego and high ownership, willing to cross team and system boundaries for optimal outcomes.
  • Ability to quickly learn broad codebases and become effective in unfamiliar systems.
  • Enjoy customer proximity to become a sharper engineer with a shorter path to impact.
  • Enjoy the mix of debugging, systems thinking, product judgment, and hands-on implementation.
  • Energized by building a new team and defining excellent enterprise engineering practices.

Benefits

  • Competitive pay and benefits packages
