About the job
AHEAD is seeking a Principal Technical Consultant specializing in AI and Azure Cloud Platform Engineering. This role focuses on helping large enterprises design, build, and run AI agent platforms on Azure. You will own the end-to-end delivery process at client sites, from assessing current states and designing target platforms to building them, setting up delivery pipelines, and enabling client teams for ongoing operation. This is a hands-on role with significant delivery leadership responsibilities, including writing infrastructure and agent code, creating necessary documentation, and mentoring junior and mid-level consultants. You will also present your work to executive leadership and train client personnel on the delivered solutions. The platforms you build will be for clients in regulated industries, requiring a strong focus on private networking, policy governance, and rigorous evaluation before production deployment.
Responsibilities
- Interpret business challenges and translate them into technical solutions on the Azure platform, including AI agent platforms.
- Lead and mentor junior and mid-level consultants on client engagements, setting technical direction and reviewing work.
- Shape client engagements by defining workstreams, deliverables, and effort estimates.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships and identify opportunities for AHEAD's growth.
- Serve as the senior technical voice in client meetings, providing clear recommendations with trade-offs.
- Lead Azure discovery and assessment engagements, including architecture reviews and readiness assessments.
- Design and deploy enterprise-scale Azure landing zones aligned with the Cloud Adoption Framework.
- Plan and execute migrations to Azure, including workload assessment and cutover planning.
- Establish hybrid and cross-premises connectivity solutions.
- Own cost governance and FinOps practices for Azure environments.
- Design and deploy Microsoft Foundry environments for enterprise clients, ensuring network isolation.
- Set up Copilot Studio governance, including environment strategy and DLP policies.
- Build promotion pipelines in GitHub Actions for agent deployment.
- Implement evaluation and safety frameworks for AI agents.
- Develop agents using the Foundry SDK (Python) and Copilot Studio, establishing ALM processes.
- Advise clients on model selection and placement within the Foundry catalog, considering data residency, inference, and cost.
- Author design documents, build guides, technical roadmaps, and runbooks.
- Conduct workshops and enablement sessions for client teams.
- Prepare review packages and evidence for client AI governance boards.
Requirements
- 8+ years in engineering or technical consulting.
- 5+ years delivering Azure infrastructure, landing zones, or migrations.
- At least 18 months delivering GenAI or agent systems to production.
- Proven experience leading small consulting or engineering teams on client work.
- Ability to frame ambiguous client problems into concrete architectures.
- Hands-on delivery experience with Cloud Adoption Framework landing zones and Azure Migrate.
