Abridge is seeking Software Engineering Interns for a 3-month program in Fall 2026, with potential for extension. Interns will collaborate with the engineering team to build and deploy real-world features, translating advanced language model capabilities into reliable clinical systems. This role offers hands-on experience in designing, coding, and releasing AI-powered software that significantly impacts clinician workflows, under the guidance of experienced mentors.
Responsibilities
- Design and build end-to-end features, enhancing existing systems and contributing to agentic LLM workflows.
- Fix user-facing bugs and issues, and implement quality-of-life improvements across backend and frontend systems.
- Utilize evaluation frameworks to measure accuracy, robustness, and clinical reliability.
- Prototype with new models, prompting techniques, and open-source orchestration tools like LangChain and LlamaIndex.
- Develop a user-centric mindset, understanding the challenges faced by Abridge's clinicians.
- Collaborate with cross-functional product teams (design, product, machine learning, infrastructure) to ship features.
- Receive guidance from an experienced software engineering mentor and collaborate with teammates.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Strong interest in pursuing a full-time software engineering role in 2027.
- Experience using AI tooling for writing, debugging, and learning, with an understanding of when to trust and verify.
- Passion for and understanding of Abridge's mission in healthcare.
- Curious, adaptable, and proactive mindset with a desire to learn in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Collaborative and low-ego mindset, eager to contribute as a team player.
