Abridge is seeking driven and passionate early-career Software Engineers to make a real-world impact through AI for healthcare. You will join a cross-functional team of researchers, clinicians, and engineers to translate cutting-edge language model capabilities into dependable clinical systems. This role involves building AI-powered features that impact clinical workflows, shipping production code, and experiencing accelerated learning and career growth in an environment where Generative AI is central to product development. You will be given significant responsibility and autonomy, with a path to becoming a future leader within the company.
Responsibilities
- Build and iterate on agentic LLM systems, including retrieval pipelines, structured tool use, and chained LLM workflows.
- Contribute to evaluation frameworks measuring accuracy, robustness, and clinical reliability.
- Contribute to backend and frontend systems across Abridge.
- Adopt an agent-first approach and continuously learn agentic coding.
- Determine critical points for human-in-the-loop intervention.
- Prototype with new models, prompting techniques, and open-source orchestration tools like LangChain and LlamaIndex.
- Contribute to monitoring and observability systems for LLM workflows in production.
- Collaborate with ML, infrastructure, product, and clinical teams to understand user and clinician needs.
- Learn from senior engineers and bring fresh perspectives to problem-solving.
Requirements
- Degree in CS or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on GenAI experience through coursework, projects, internships, or hackathons, including integrating LLM APIs, building RAG pipelines, or experimenting with agents.
- Familiarity with LLM orchestration concepts such as prompt chaining, tool use, and retrieval.
- Proficiency in using AI tooling for writing, debugging, and learning, with an understanding of when to trust and verify AI output.
- Curiosity about model evaluation, failure modes, and LLM system reliability.
- Collaborative and low-ego mindset.
